The 10-month resident program emphasizes critical thinking, strategic leadership development, and the application of history, theory, and practice to complex national security issues. Core courses include Theory of War and Strategy, Strategic Leadership, National Security Policy, and Regional Studies. Staff rides to Gettysburg and other historical sites complement classroom instruction.

Discipline Model

Students and their families typically reside in 152 dedicated student homes within four neighborhoods on Carlisle Barracks, ranging from two-story duplexes to spacious single-level historic homes. Facilities include Jim Thorpe Fitness Center, Carlisle Barracks Golf Course (6,300 yards, par 72), and the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center with over 15 million items on Army history.
