Youth Challenge Programs

Bluegrass Challenge Academy at Fort Knox (on an active U.S. Army installation) has served at-risk Kentucky youth since approximately 1999. Appalachian Challenge Academy in Grays Knob serves eastern Kentucky's Appalachian region since 2012, offering vocational partnerships with local community colleges. Both are free 22-week residential programs with 12-month post-residential mentoring.

Note: Millersburg Military Institute (MMI)—once a prominent Kentucky military school—permanently closed in 2006. Kentucky now has only Youth Challenge programs for military-style education.
