The Verdict

VWIL is the only all-female corps of cadets in the nation—and possibly the world—a singular program where women train exclusively alongside women to become leaders in both military and civilian spheres. Winner of the AMCSUS Leadership Award, VWIL produces exceptional results: 82% of cadets complete the four-year program, 58% commission into the U.S. Military, and graduates have reached O-6 rank (Colonel/Captain) across all service branches.

With over 30 major fields of study and ROTC available for all service branches through partnership with VMI, the program's living-learning approach emphasizes mutual respect over browbeating, empowerment over intimidation, and team-building over individual competition.

Daily Schedule

Structured cadet life includes formations, parades, strength and endurance training, academic classes, and leadership seminars. First-year cadets (nULLs) begin with a wilderness adventure and undergo seven months of intensive training culminating in an Honor Ceremony. Cadets live and learn together as 'sister nULLs' in historic residence halls, participating in monthly complex training events and co-curricular leadership activities.

Discipline Model

VWIL operates under core values of truth, duty, and honor. The regimental system emphasizes accountability, adherence to standards, and chain of command. Brigadier General Djuric's leadership philosophy prioritizes mutual respect and empowerment over adversarial command—'Standing over someone and barking orders doesn't inspire action or develop team-building.' Cadets hold leadership positions within the corps and are expected to model professional behavior.
